Description - Musculoskeletal trauma constitutes a significant proportion of injuries in the paediatric population. Paradoxically, many of these injuries are managed by orthopaedic surgeons whose primary focus is adult trauma care. While principles may overlap, paediatric musculoskeletal trauma presents unique anatomical, physiological, and biological considerations. A lack of focused understanding can lead to avoidable complications and long-term consequences for growing children.
Recognising this important gap in structured education, we envisioned an academic platform dedicated exclusively to paediatric orthopaedic trauma. In 2024, that vision became a reality with the launch of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Trauma Symposium (POTS) — an annual scientific event committed to advancing knowledge, refining skills, and promoting evidence-based management in paediatric musculoskeletal trauma.
